W like Wakarusa

November and December 1855, dates of the Wakarusa War in Kansas, the clash between the anti-slavery Free Soilers and Border Ruffians, supporters of slavery. This siege began with the assassination of my friend, Charles W.Dow by a pro-slavery. A stupid thing announcing another, the siege made only one poor dead, I think its name was Thomas, probably... A bad memory linked to a friend who was dear to me, Charles was engaged for freedom, two unnecessary deaths. Lest we forget.
